Rustark took part in a business mission to Turkey
In October 2024, the SOYUZKRAKHMAL Association together with the Turkish NISAD Starch Manufacturers Association arranged a business mission to Turkey. RUSTARK’s representatives had productive meetings with local starch product manufacturers as well as a number of successful negotiations on equipment manufacture with engineering companies: Çemsan, Haus Centrifuge Technologies, Unormak, Sunar Misir, İmaş Makina, Sigma and others.
The range of products produced in the Russian and Turkish industries are similar with some differences, however. In Turkey, one factory produces citric acid, and another, sorbitol. In addition, they produce sodium gluconate, crystal fructose, and bioethanol. Turkish peers do not produce amino-acids, while Russian companies satisfy the domestic market demand for lysine almost completely. The industry vision is also similar: both sides are most interested in the highest value-added high-tech products, food modified starch from wax corn, for instance.
“Companies who are members of NISAD Association represent all the starch industry of Turkey. Together, they process about 2.5 million tons of corn; no high value-added products are produced in Turkey from other sorts of feedstock. Turkish corn is not sufficient for meeting the domestic market demand, and the feedstock is partly imported, from Russia in part. Turkish companies completely meet the domestic market demands for local starches and syrups, and import the surplus. The starch industry of Turkey completed 2023 with the following figures of export: 276 thousand tons of starch syrups, for 238 million US$, 230 thousand tons of starch and starch products, for 112 million US$.”

“Today, Turkish companies supplying various materials and accessories are among our enterprise’s partners. With its development strategy implementation, RUSTARK is also interested in reliable suppliers of production equipment. This is why participation in such off-line business events is very useful for us. We express our gratitude to the Soyuzkrakhmal Association for organizing the business tour; it is the second trip we took part in. The first business tour to China took place in June this year, which gives us an opportunity to compare Chinese and Turkish equipment manufacturers and technologies. Most likely, we will work with suppliers from both countries. We saw several high-efficiency and modern Turkish factories and received evidence that they manufacture high-quality equipment. New contacts and understanding the Turkish market are very important for the development of our Company’s development strategy”.

“Deep grain processing industries in Russia and Turkey are similar in the processing volumes, about 2.5 million tons of feedstock. We have common markets and problems in the industries, so it is very important to work on international interactions. Also, our countries tied closely in trade: During a number of past years, Turkey is among the Top 10 countries importing Russian grain, increasing flour and wheat gluten in recent years. Russia imports Turkish equipment, including equipment for the deep grain processing industry and flour-milling industry. We personally made certain of its high quality, and enjoyed the Eastern hospitality”.
